What is a Chamber of Commerce?

A Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit, volunteer organization of individuals and businesses working together to advance the commercial, financial, industrial and civic interests of a community.

What does a Chamber do?

Members of the Blackfalds & District Chamber of commerce work together to advance the interest of the business community and the community at large.  The Chamber provides opportunities for networking, sharing concerns, remaining informed on current trends and developments within the local, provincial and national community.

The Blackfalds & District Chamber of Commerce is proud to be associated with the Alberta Chamber of commerce.  The ACC hosts a convention where Chamber representatives from across the province meet to discuss current issues and make important contacts for their Chambers.

The Chamber coexists with municipal, provincial, and federal government but is a separate entity and often finds itself lobbying for changes needed to help businesses and the community at large.

Who Runs the Chamber?

A board of Directors, elected by the Chamber's members, runs the organization.  The Board, serving as volunteers, sets the policies and goals of the organization.

What are the Benefits of Membership in the Chamber?

The major benefit of membership is the Chamber of Commerce acts as the unified voice of the area businesses.  Chambers of Commerce also provide their members with value-added programs available only to members.  The savings often offset the costs of membership.
